As an architect, the most rewarding experience possible is to exceed the dreams and expectations of your clients. Working one on one with, you, the client creates a dynamic conversation about how you live, work, love and interact in everyday spaces. Therefore an Architects highest priority is listening to and engaging with their client right from the start to make sure your project is reflective of your vision. Designing a building entails a lot of moving parts. It’s important that you do your homework on factors such as applicable codes, the properties of materials you want to use, and what things cost. Clients rely on architects to be the experts in many areas, and by doing your homework, you will convey the correct information and make fewer mistakes. Good communication is the cornerstone of building trust with a client. A regular check-in can bring potential problems to the surface early in the process and show the client you’re fully engaged. It’s obvious that when building relationships that the quality of the work you do should be exemplary. If you’re not making your clients happy, it will be virtually impossible to forge long-lasting relationships. Aim to exceed their expectations whenever possible, and demonstrate how you can become a valued extension of your clients’ businesses.
