What happens when you first engage us as your architect? Here we talk you through our process, stage by stage.
Before a single brick is laid, the true foundations are made. It’s all in the process. As a RIBA Chartered Practice our process sits in accordance with the RIBA Plan of Work – the Industry-standard planning method that details each step of the process in a building, construction or design project.
It can be daunting, but we are very experienced and work closely with you to guide you through.
Stage 0-2 || Client Brief to Concept
This is the briefing stage from which we create the overall concept designs. First is the discovery call with you to confirm the details, location, the scope of the project, any considerations such as Listed Building status or AONB. Ashleigh Clarke will then make a site visit to meet you and view the property or proposed site.
As part of our process, we carry out a feasibility study, which confirms whether the project is possible from a structural or environmental point of view.
We present our preliminary costing with our fee proposal for you to review and then upon advice to proceed we arrange the building survey. Finally, the presentation of our concept design.
Stage 3 || Concept Design, Detailed Design and Planning
Once the survey has been received, full design proposals are drawn up. We prepare and submit the planning application, tracking the progress of your application through to the final decision date.
“Architecture is about trust. As architects, we walk away at the end of the project, but the client will be living in that space every day. Trust and collaboration need to be there right from the beginning.” – Ashleigh Clarke
Stage 4 || From Technical Design to Building Compliance
We complete the full technical design and ensure the design meets all building regulations.
Stage 5 || Full Construction
If instructed, we project manage and oversee all construction and administration of building contracts.
Stage 6 || Final Check, Handover and Close Out
Once construction is complete and signed off, we hand over to our client and close out the contract.
“It’s incredibly satisfying to design spaces that inspire people and bring calm.” – Ashleigh Clarke, Founder and Architect
