It’s not surprising that one of the most frequent requests we receive is for renovating properties. If you are considering making any significant structural changes to your home, you should always seek advice from a Structural Engineer, to ensure that your project is structurally safe and meets building regulations.
You can’t buy a renovation plan ‘off the peg’. Every renovation, interior or exterior has to be bespoke to the client and their home, taking in every nuance of the existing building and ensuring a seamless integration of design elements. Our renovation projects include a wide variety of traditional and contemporary designs, historical and heritage buildings and barn conversions.
As Cotswold Architects, the majority of our renovations involve special conservation considerations as the existing structures are often either Listed Buildings or of historical interest, sited within an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) or conservation area.
When converting Listed buildings it is particularly important to seek advice from an architect or specialist consultant as Listed building consent will be required for internal renovations and both planning and Listed building consent will be required for any external changes. We work in partnership with The Heritage Advisory to ensure that our clients obtain the best advice when considering renovations of historical and heritage buildings.
