We absolutely love Autumn at the ACA studio – with long walks in the fallen leaves in the beautiful Cotswold countryside, a stop off at one of our favourite pubs, wrapping up warm in jumpers and hot chocolates by open fires amongst some of our favourite activities!
It’s no surprise that in architectural terms the focus has shifted to designing spaces with relaxation in mind and in the studio we have seen a huge increase in requests for cosy spaces such as snugs as well as the ever-practical boot room (perfect to store discarded wellies after those Autumnal walks!)
Designing beautifully decorated, simple yet functional spaces are key. Snugs are normally small and cosy spaces, often connected to open plan kitchen and dining areas. Aesthetically pleasing, they should evoke cosy, family nights in, cuddled up together reading in front of a log burner or watching TV.
With boot rooms, it is essential that designs incorporate plenty of storage along with movement space for both children and pets! Ecological design with a focus on the use of natural and traditional materials and simple lines are hugely desirable. Cleverly incorporated seating alongside open shelving for ease of access and comfort are some of the more popular features.
In summary, the focus is on simple, beautiful designs which are both practical and visually impactful. If you are considering extending or reconfiguring your home to include a snug or a boot room reach out to us at info@ashleighclarkearchitects.com and we would be delighted to help!
