Autumn has arrived and it’s time to get cosy, take long walks in the beautiful Cotswold countryside and of course the odd outing to our favourite local pubs! It’s also a time when our clients, invariably turn their attention to the colder weather and how to incorporate some of the essential comforts within their homes for the winter ahead.

At the top of the list are often snug rooms which are always popular. These cosy family spaces should be beautifully designed yet functional spaces and are often connected to the heart of most family homes – the kitchen! They should evoke cosy, family nights, cuddled up together reading in front of a log burner or watching TV.

Boot rooms with extensive storage and space for more practical items such as wet and muddy boots and dog wash stations are increasingly seen as an essential part of modern family life, particularly when living in the countryside. Ecological design with a focus on the use of natural and traditional materials and simple lines are hugely desirable. Cleverly incorporated seating alongside open shelving for ease of access and comfort are some of the more popular features.

The focus is essentially on simple, beautiful designs which are both practical and aesthetically pleasing.
