The soft light and rolling contours of the Cotswold countryside and the warm tones of the natural stone are world famous. As a local architectural practice, the architectural heritage of Cotswold historical buildings is part of our heart and soul and it’s the cornerstone of many of our designs. Over the last 10 years, we have built up extensive specialist knowledge whilst designing for Listed buildings. We work collaboratively with a network of expert consultants in areas such as conservation, ecology and environment and have a full understanding of the additional permissions required. We bring this established network of contacts and rich knowledge of Heritage architectural design to the table right from the first contact.
Ashleigh Clarke Architects was commissioned to renovate part of this beautiful Grade II listed, Cotswold stone home and has remodelled the ground floor space to create an entire separate annexe. This is going to be a beautiful, yet functional space and we are so looking forward to seeing the finished result later in 2021.
Many of our projects involve the renovation or extension of existing traditional buildings so a thorough, practical grounding in additional conservation and heritage regulations from tree preservations to ecological surveyors is vital.
We have a network of experts in all aspects of heritage conservation and we work closely with specialist heritage consultants.
We have been commissioned to work on alterations and extensions to this beautiful historical property in the Cotswolds. The building was entirely original, with only the single storey a later addition. It was not Listed, but as it lies within the AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and in a conservation area, there were special considerations and permissions necessary. As with any historical building in a conservation area, the architectural design needs to be sensitive to the surrounding landscape and sympathetic to the existing structure of the original building. We have used the renders shown in the images here to help our clients to visualise their new space in 3D.

Many of our projects involve the renovation or extension of existing traditional buildings so a thorough, practical grounding in additional conservation and heritage regulations from tree preservations to ecological surveys is vital. We offer expert professional advice on sympathetic, architectural alterations to traditional Cotswold buildings and we are proud to work in partnership with specialist heritage consultants.
